General Assembly

Winter 2019 General Assembly

The Medical Students’ Society of McGill University (MSS) will be hosting its Winter 2019 General Assembly (GA) on Tuesday, March 19th 2019 at 7:00pm (FOOD & REGISTRATION beginning at 6:00pm) in the Palmer Amphitheatre (522), McIntyre. Dinner will be served, and prizes will be won!

Article 4.1.2 of the MSS Constitution states: “The General Assembly shall have full authority over the Society. The General Council and Class Councils are bound by all decisions made by a General Assembly.”

As you all know after our 2 eventful GA’s this year, the GA is a great opportunity for students to (1) bring forward topics for discussion, to (2) formulate stances taken by the MSS, and to (3) outline actions mandated by the student body to the MSS council.

We are accepting motions from the general student body through the following form: Motion Submission Form, or by emailing them directly to Jesse Chevrier.

If you don’t know how to write a motion, you can follow the instructions to do so here. Andre Lametti, our Senator, created a Sample Motion for reference. You can always contact both Jesse or Ziyu, GAAC officer, for any questions about the process.

We will be accepting submissions until March 14th. @8:00pm. The agenda will be sent out on March 15th.

For your reference, please see the MSS Constitution here, as well as the Agenda and Minutes from previous General Assemblies in the tabs below. As well, here are our Standing Rules to give a brief overview of the proceedings of the Assembly, and to explain the basics of how it works! More in-depth information can be found within our Internal Regulations, or by consulting the most recent edition of Robert’s Rules of Order.

Please fill out this Google FORM to confirm your attendance so we can arrange for your meal (Deadline: Sunday, March 17th, at 11:59pm), and follow along by pressing going on the Facebook Event to stay up-to-date with the latest information!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jesse Chevrier at

Once again, we’ll be allowing students with mandatory, scheduled clinical activities to proxy their vote. Anyone who is interested in a proxy vote is invited to read through the entirety of the agreement, and to reach out to Jesse Chevrier directly if they have any further questions with regards to who is eligible to proxy their vote. All submissions are subject to review, and will be confirmed shortly after submission. Proxy forms will be accepted until March 18th, at 11:59pm.
